2005 didn't really begin for Dream Machine until July 15th when we

recorded 'Trilogia' which has been well documented in the studio

report on the Roadburn site. Stuart McLean's involvement as producer and engineer proved to be crucial. Not only did he do an excellent job, he

encouraged us to play freely and express ourselves.

The fact that each track runs from 15 to 30 mins didn't bother him at all. Originally the 3 tracks that make up 'Trilogia' were supposed to form a reference point for a studio

session, but when we decided that we wanted to go ahead with what we had, Stuart backed us all the way. He agreed that we might lose what he had already captured.

Before 'Trilogia' Dream Machine had been mainly rehearsing. We hadn't played any gigs since 2004 but we wanted to work towards something special.

Champignon and Alex had been guesting with ZubZub [ex-Ozric bassist - Zia's dance project] at Glastonbury and the Glade Festival. Alex also featured in several

Champignon solo gigs.

On October 11th, 'Trilogia' was released through Rubbish Records and everything changed.

The immediate response was fantastic. We received rave reviews on the

Rubbish message forum, and good reviews in Organ magazine [December edition] and

Psychotropic Zone website, with more to come.

On the 27th of November, we played our official 'Trilogia' launch gig at Bush Hall, Shepherds Bush. Joie played in Seaweed's place and the onstage chemistry was

fantastic. Fruit Salad provided an amazing lightshow. Everything was recorded for the forthcoming DVD release. Joie playing with us must be the highlight of the year,

enhanced by the fact that he loved it and wants to do it again.

Steffe Sharpstrings [Hear & Now] was in the audience and told us that we "achieved vertical lift off on more than one occasion". Compliments don't come any better than that!

FAVES OF 2005:

ZubZub - "Malicious Code" This is cheating because Alex and Champignon are playing on it!

Stuart Ryan - "The Coast Road" A fantastic acoustic fingerstyle guitarist. A stunning debut album

"For Eric" An amazing tribute album for the late acoustic guitar maestro Eric Roche, featuring Martin Taylor, Gordon Giltrap, Clive Carroll, Dave Kilminster [Lemmy's son] and the amazing Guthrie Govan. Guthrie plays in Asia, but his solo work is breathtaking. His track on this album is worth the money alone.

One other... 'Trilogia' - but then we're very biased!
