I Dream Machine sono una band inglese fuori dagli schemi, non legata assolutamente ai trend musicali del momento ma anzi proiettata, come il gruppo nostrano “La Torre Dell’Alchimista” ad esempio, a riportare alla luce un modo di fare musica di parecchi anni fa.

 

Dream Machine are an English band working outside the formulas associated with current musical trends and, like our own “La Torre Dell’Alchimista” for instance, is launching itself towards bringing back a way of making music from long ago.

 

Parliamo di progressive rock, qui nella sua dimensione strumentale, dalla forte cariche psichedelica e dalle composizioni lunghe ed articolate (un’ora di musica divisa in tre tracce): registrato live agli Husky Studios (le tastiere e altri strumenti come il flauto sono stati aggiunti in overdub).

 

We are talking Progressive Rock, here in an instrumental dimension with a strong psychedelic charge and with long, articulated compositions (one hour of music shared between three tracks): recorded live at Husky Studios (the keyboards and other instruments such as the flute where subsequently overdubbed).

 

Dietro questa sconosciuta nuova band troviamo però personaggi come Jon Egan, Alex Pym e Joie Hinton che sono tre ex-Ozric Tentacles: Jon è stato per diciotto anni il frontman degli Ozric quindi potete capire bene come la classe e l'esperienza non manchi al combo britannico.

 

Behind this unknown new band we however find people such as Jon Egan, Alex Pym and Joie Hinton who are all ex Ozric Tentacles: Jon has fronted that band for 18 years so you can well appreciate how class and experience are not missing from this British combo.

 

La disamina del disco è abbastanza complessa, sia per la particolarità della proposta, sia per la lunghezza delle canzoni che racchiudono al loro interno miriadi di sfaccettature. La musica dei Dream Machine può essere ben rappresentata se si immagina il mondo visto attraverso un caleidoscopio: un’esplosione di luci, colori, forme, sagome il tutto in continuo e costante mutamento, come se qualche mago pazzo si divertisse a cambiare, a suo esclusivo piacimento, il mondo che conosciamo confondendo la nostra dimensione con altre parallele.

 

It is hard to dissect and fully analyze this album, due to the nature of it’s style, and to the length of the tracks each containing a myriad of facets. Dream Machine’s music can be well described as a world seen through a kaleidoscope: an explosion of lights, colours, shapes all in constant change, as if some mad wizard is having fun changing at whim the world that we know, confusing our dimension with other, parallel ones.
